Basildon Council has received a setback in its 10-year legal battle to evict residents of the Dale Farm traveller site, after travellers were granted a last-minute injunction on Monday.

Basildon Council has received a setback in its 10-year legal battle to evict residents of the Dale Farm traveller site, after travellers were granted a last-minute injunction on Monday.

Bailiffs arrived in the afternoon of 19 September, to ask some 86 families and around 100 activists to leave. They found the site barricaded and activists chained to the gates. Then, shortly before 5pm, news spread that the travellers had been granted a private injunction, preventing Basildon Council removing structures from the site.
