Preston council leader, Peter Rankin, has described as ‘uncompromisingly monstrous' the city's infamous bus station – but that has not stopped it being added to the World Monuments Fund's ‘at risk' list of significant historic buildings.
Hailed as an example of the ‘concrete Brutalism' style of architecture that was favoured in the 1970s, the bus station was scheduled for demolition as part of a £700m local regeneration scheme.
