The Cabinet Office has published ‘best practice' guidance, outlining how local authorities could work closely with charities and voluntary groups to deliver Big Society objectives in the context of spending cuts.

A study published on 3 November identifies five principles to underpin the effective delivery of Big Society aims – such as public workers' mutuals, free schools and the delivery of new welfare responsibilities – as councils prepare to slash their budgets, including cash for the voluntary and charitable sectors.
