East Hampshire DC's social media stats are some way from footballer Cristiano Ronaldo's 732 million followers. But what social good has he actually achieved online? Well, East Hampshire last week reported positive results from its #binfluencer campaign, which highlighted to residents what should go in their bins to help the council in its efforts to prevent the wrong things going in recycling Thanks to the campaign, the council's contamination rate went from 17% from October to December to 13% from January to March. Of course, councils are never going to please everybody, with Jayne V. Elsey posting: ‘Wow, another tone deaf post... Maybe if the Hampshire refuse collection service actually functioned as it should more people would have a clue! Unperturbed, East Hampshire wants to improve the rate even further, asking residents to share its social media videos with friends and family in the district. The council probably shouldn't count on Jayne for any help.
