Leaders in the biotechnology sector have warned they do not have confidence in public policy to support their industry. In a clear warning to ministers and regional development agencies, industry leaders predicted a tough year ahead and a lack of foreign investors as key issues they must face. Biotechnology has been highlighted by the Government as a critical industry to making the UK a global leader in the ‘knowledge economy', as part of the economic recovery. But a survey of the sector revealed only 15% had confidence in current policies to help the sector outside the US.
