Blackpool Council and the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) are linking up to ensure the safety of aerial fitters in the run-up to the digital switchover in the North West. Under the deal, a health and safety officer at the council, Gareth Shaw, has been warranted by the HSE to inspect aerial fittings and satellite dish installations over the next few months. If he finds unsafe practices, he will be able to stop it immediately, rather than having to call in the HSE.
