A local authority chief executive is among the first non-executive directors of the new Statistics Board. Moira Gibb, chief executive of Camden LBC, was praised for her ‘distinguished career in local government'. Her appointment, agreed by Cabinet Office minister, Ed Miliband, is to provide ‘strategic direction of necessary development work'. The new board has been created to deliver the Government's goal of greater independence for statistics.
