Jerry Willmott and Andrew Groves, the chairman and the chief fire officer of Wiltshire and Swindon Fire Authority have denied writing a series of allegedly racist e-mails about disciplinary issues at Marlborough Fire Station, and promised ‘an immediate, independent and forensic investigation into the circumstances surrounding the correspondence'. The Fire Brigades Union has called for an inquiry and forwarded copies of the e-mails to the Standards Board for England and the Commission for Racial Equality.
