Bolton MBC has won The MJ prize for member development at a function attended by children's minister Beverley Hughes. The annual event, organised by the North West Employers' Organisation at the Lowry Centre in Salford, awards charters for member councils which achieve the necessary level for councillor development. This year charters went to Bolton, Cumbria CC, Knowsley MBC, Eden DC, Macclesfield BC, Sefton MBC, Trafford MBC, Halton and Blackpool councils.
