Local government’s bonds agency – launched to drive down borrowing costs for councils – has closed to new business after struggling to generate enough interest.

Local government's bonds agency – launched to drive down borrowing costs for councils – has closed to new business after struggling to generate enough interest. 

The UK Municipal Bonds Agency's (UKMBA) latest annual report confirmed its board had decided to ‘cease activity marketing for new business' and ‘further issues are now no longer expected in the coming year'.
