Two neighbouring London boroughs have begun consulting staff about merging their library services.

Bexley and Bromley LBCs are aiming, from next April, to share back-office management across their libraries to reduce costs and avoid frontline cuts. Bexley alone is seeking £1m cuts in its library costs, and hopes to save up to £450,000 annually from next year by the merger.
