Deputy prime minister Nick Clegg has announced local authorities across England will get £100m to help meet demand for childcare places.

Local authorities across England will receive an extra £100m to help them meet soaring demand for childcare places, deputy prime minister Nick Clegg has announced.

Mr Clegg told the Liberal Democrats' annual conference in Brighton the money would be used to support new nurseries and childminders, as well as extend help to existing organisations and staff.
