Boost helps put young people on the path to a career

The Boost initiative has helped young people in King’s Lynn and Breckland on the journey to where they want to be in terms of a career path, says Jan Feeney.

Norfolk is a large county with a low population density spread across a diverse range and mix of rural and coastal communities, market towns, and urban centres. This often means sparse access to public transport and/or reliable broadband connectivity and makes it challenging for young people to reach education and training provision. Which is why the support we have been able to offer young people through Boost has been particularly valuable.

Boost has helped people in King's Lynn and Breckland who are not in employment, education or training (NEET) on their journey towards where they want to be in terms of a career path and provided them with the bespoke, handholding support they so badly needed. The initiative was developed in 2021 and piloted in King's Lynn for two years as part of its Town Deal funding for less than £450,000. The scheme helps them create a support plan that fits their needs. Whether it is mentoring, training, or formal qualifications, we will support them to take the next step towards their goals. They receive career advice and guidance, access to local support services, free employment support and training.
