Bedford BC has launched negotiations with trade unions over employee terms and conditions, in a bid to trim annual staff costs by up to £2m for the 2012/13 budget.
Council leaders, who have targeted the savings as a contribution toward meeting overall reductions of £14m – required to balance finances – hope to reach a collective agreement with unions this year.
