Islington LBC has re-tendered part of its home care service to reduce the number of providers from seven to just four private agencies. New, three-year contracts for the services are due to come into operation from next month, and Cllr Ursula Woolley, executive member for health and adult social care at Islington LBC, said: ‘I want our contracted home care service to enable people to stay in their own homes and lead an independent and interesting life for as long as they can. ‘With the new contracts, we're also hoping to be able to cater better for individual cultural preferences and language. ‘Surveys tell us residents put a high level of importance on quality services which help people lead more fulfilling lives, so I am extremely proud that Islington council remains committed to investing in moderate needs care at a time when others are not.'
