The LGA has called for a town hall ban on ‘impenetrable' jargon, after a council called for ‘thought showers' to replace ‘brainstorming'. Tunbridge Wells BC ordered the change because it feared epilepsy sufferers might be offended. The LGA has published a list of 100 words that public bodies should try not to use if they want to communicate ‘effectively', including ‘bottom-up', ‘multi-agency' and ‘sustainable communities'. A Tunbridge Wells BC spokesman defended the decision. ‘We take diversity awareness very seriously,' he said. ‘The majority of staff have taken part in training and been asked to use the term "thought showers".'
