The first phase in a regeneration programme involving ~Newport City Council~ – a £5m foot and cycle bridge – was due to be unveiled this week. The bridge is part of a joint project between the council, the Welsh Assembly and urban regeneration company Newport Unlimited. Contractors started to lift the bridge into place on Monday and the whole structure should be in place by the end of the week. The bridge will open in August.
