Can Britain's cohesion drive stop the next riot?

The Government’s cohesion taskforce promises a fresh approach to healing divisions – but councils warn that without fixing housing pressures and restoring trust, communities will remain on a knife edge. Paul Marinko reports.

With the announcement of a new social cohesion taskforce, the Government has acknowledged efforts to address community tension have failed to progress sufficiently.

These tensions burst into public consciousness with riots across the country last summer, following the murder in Southport of three young girls. And there has been recognition across public institutions that more needs to be done to prevent such incidents in the future.
