Swansea City Council has leveraged £90m spending with local companies involved with regeneration projects and housing upgrades, to create 26 training places since 2009.
Titled ‘Beyond bricks and mortar', the scheme, which encourages companies awarded council contracts to give local people work opportunities, has achieved value for money while securing and creating local jobs.
