Five sacked workers from Aberdeenshire Council are taking the local authority to tribunal over claims they were bullied and harassed at work. The group all worked as integrated community schools co-ordinators and claim the council breached a number of procedures when they were made redundant in 2005. A date for the hearing has yet to be set, but the group will reportedly argue that the length of time the council took to process their grievances amounted to bullying and harassment. Transport and General Workers' Union co-ordinator, Tommy Campbell, said: ‘These were professional community learners in senior management who applied for jobs which they thought were permanent. ‘They applied for the jobs in good faith, but they later discovered the planned jobs had been abandoned.' Mr Campbell said the workers took up the jobs, but were quickly made redundant because the new posts did not exist. He added that the council breached a number of employment laws in the process. ‘The council should hang its head in shame,' he added. A spokesman for Aberdeenshire Council said it would not comment before the tribunal.
