West Midlands councils are being urged to use cash which will come from the planned changes to business rates to boost public transport across the region. Minister for the West Midlands, Liam Byrne, has urged local authorities to take advantage of the proposal to allow them to introduce supplementary business rates to improve the economy by spending the cash on better transport links. He said: ‘This could be one new way of helping create new investment in public transport.'
