The Cabinet Office will assume responsibility for the Government’s marketing and advertising roles, following the controversial closure of the Central Office of Information (COI).

The Cabinet Office will assume responsibility for the Government's marketing and advertising roles, following the controversial closure of the Central Office of Information (COI).

Rather than set up a new, streamlined central body to deliver the Government's promotional information functions – as recommended in a report by Whitehall's former permanent secretary for information, Mark Tee, in March – ministers have instead chosen to shift responsibility to a unit based within the Cabinet Office.
