Local government audit committees must improve on levels of providing leadership on good governance, public accountability and developing interactions with partner organisations, a CIPFA survey has found.
Although more than half of the heads of the local government audit questioned felt committees were very effective at supporting audit processes, only 15% thought their public accountability was very effective.
