Outsourcing group Capita has admitted that public spending cuts are hitting its business after a long run of increased turnover and profits.

The company, which has contracts across Whitehall and local government, said in a trading update that spending cuts were having a greater impact than expected on its revenues, half of which are from the UK public sector.
