Councils in London have made £54m over the last three years from cabinet minister Francis Maude's Whitehall efficiency drive, property experts claimed last week.

Based in the Cabinet Office, the minister's Efficiency and Reform Group has helped unlock £3.5bn for the capital's economy since 2010, according to property consultancy Knight Frank LLP.
