Communities secretary Eric Pickles has approved Thanet DC's move to acquire the Dreamland amusement park in Margate, Kent.
The council and the Dreamland Trust have secured more than £10m of funding to develop the site as an amusement park – as well as restoring its iconic listed structures, including a 1930s art deco cinema and the UK's oldest wooden rollercoaster.
