The Treasury looks set to claw back up to £1bn in cash from energy savings.
Hidden in the fine print of the Comprehensive Spending Review was an announcement that the Carbon Reduction Commitment (CRC) Energy Efficiency scheme would be simplified, and the £1bn revenue generated annually would be kept by the Treasury instead of being ‘recycled' among participants.
