Care can't wait

By amplifying real life stories, proving how well-funded and supported social care can help people to thrive, an ADASS campaign can show why adult social care warrants further investment, says Jess McGregor.

As I begin my presidency at the Association of Directors of Adult Social Services (ADASS), I am struck by how many brilliant women have gone before me, each with their own personal priority or expert area, paving the way towards the reform of adult social care that we all so desperately need.

In 2023, president Sarah McClinton commissioned an independent report called Time To Act. For the first time, the many voices and views on adult social care were brought together into a cohesive roadmap that set out what we need to see happen over the next five to 10 years to transform adult social care in England.
