Birmingham City Council has appointed Carillion Energy Services as the preferred bidder for its Energy Savers initiative, which will be part of the Government's Green Deal programme.
The scheme could see up to 60,000 households around the city handed a cheaper way of fitting their homes with new energy-saving measures.
