Local government minister, John Healey, was forced to claw back £22m of councils' regeneration cash following an error made by the Department for Work and Pensions. The CLG was heavily after the DWP made a mistake compiling the deprivation data used to allocate the Working Neighbourhoods Fund. Four councils – the London boroughs of Westminster, Brent and Camden, and West Somerset DC – were given too much cash. CLG sources this week confirmed the error was made at the DWP. A senior source said: ‘It was a little embarrassing having to go cap in hand and tell councils we were taking money back from them.'
