Three Welsh councils have joined forces to fight for more funding from the Welsh Assembly Government, after the lowest local government settlement. The leader of the Welsh Local Government Association, Cllr Derek Vaughan, has already written to the assembly to propose a 1.5% ‘floor', which would ‘slightly improve' the situation for Anglesey (1.1%), Conwy (1.1%) and Powys (1%) Councils. An Anglesey Councils spokesman said a floor would, ‘help protect frontline services and allow us to reduce the likelihood of a substantial council tax increase next year'.
