Second-hand graves, including headstones, are being offered to lease for £3,000 for 50 years. In a move to deal with overcrowding in cemeteries, City of London Cemetery is leasing 1,000 recycled burial plots with the original memorials, still containing the remains of those who died at least 75 years ago. The Corporation of London told The MJ: ‘We’re basically running out of burial space. ‘We looked at ways to reuse, and conserve original land space, and reuse many original memorials.’
