The shadow executive for the new Central Bedfordshire unitary authority has unveiled its new-look management structure. The new top team for the unitary will be composed of a chief executive and five directors. The council's shadow executive agreed last week to postpone the appointment of the chief executive until elections for the new unitary councillors in June 2009, but the posts of directors of resources, children, families and learning and social care, health and housing, will all be advertised immediately. Mid Bedfordshire DC chief executive, Jaki Salisbury, will continue as head of staff at the shadow authority until the new top officer is appointed. South Bedfordshire DC chief executive, Jon Ruddick, will also continue as deputy head of staff. Jan Didrichsen, former chief executive of Hull City Council, has been recruited as interim director of children, families and learning until the full-time director takes up the post. ‘The executive concluded the agreed structure provided the necessary capacity to address the many complex issues in the future, while achieving further additional savings of £200,000,' said shadow executive chairman, Cllr Tricia Turner.
