The chairman of the LGA, Sir Merrick Cockell, has called on the Government to lift restrictions on council borrowing to help boost growth.

The chairman of the Local Government Association, Sir Merrick Cockell, has called on the Government to lift restrictions on council borrowing to help boost growth.

Responding to the recent Future Homes Commission report on housing, Sir Merrick said councils should be able to use pension funds and other financial sources to build new accommodation and kick-start infrastructure projects.
