The charity, Age UK, has called on councillors to back its new campaign to improve neighbourhoods for older people, after a survey claimed many local politicians were out of touch with the elderly.

The survey, which was commissioned by the charity, found that half of people aged over 60 had never had any contact with their councillor, although it also found that 40% believed local politicians were working to improve the community.
