Shelter chief executive, Adam Sampson, has called for 20,000 extra social rented homes to be built each year to ease a national shortage of decent homes, and warned that one in seven children still lives in poor housing. Responding to the new Department of Communities and Local Government report on the 2005 English House Condition Survey, he said: ‘There is still much to be done about tackling bad housing.'
