The 4Children charity has backed calls for the Government to invest in improving the quality of ‘early years' staff to raise standards in nursery education.

Anne Longfield, chief executive at 4Children, said the Sutton Trust's recent report, which set out proposals for raising the status of early years provision, must be implemented, ‘if the Government wants to give children the best start in life'.
