Chief Economist

At the centre of Government, the Department of Finance drives major policy initiatives for the Irish State and is increasingly influential in European policy formulation. The Department's mission is to manage Government finances while playing a central role in the achievement of the Government's economic and social goals.

We are seeking an exceptional candidate to take up this significant and challenging position. The role offers an opportunity for the right individual to contribute directly to the recovery of Ireland's economy.

Reporting directly to the Secretary General, the Chief Economist will perform two key functions essential to the success of the Department's mission. The first will be to lead the development of the highest-quality relevant economic research,forecasts and publications. The second will be to play a key role in the provision of economic policy advice related to strengthening the Irish and European economies. This will involve working closely with Government and other key stakeholders.
