Chief Executive

Employer: Suffolk County Council

Salary: Up to a maximum of £160,000

Closing Date :26 September 2011

Description:

Suffolk is a unique county. With a mix of large towns, beautiful coastal villages and rural communities Suffolk has an individual culture with a strong sense of place and community. As a council, Suffolk has an impressive record of performance, achievement and innovation and is currently assessed as one of the most efficient county councils in the country.

This coupled with the opportunities afforded by a successful broadband bid, a new enterprise zone, the 2012 Olympics, tourism and a real commitment to partnership working across the public sector, make Suffolk an exciting place to be.

Continuing this success and seizing these opportunities does not come without significant challenge - not least the need to achieve major financial savings over the next 2 years against a backdrop of increased demand for resources.

In this context Suffolk needs a unique person. The Members are now seeking an exceptional Chief Executive to provide the leadership, vision and determination to take Suffolk County Council through the next phase and to deliver their future vision based on excellent, cost efficient services, partnership working and listening to the people of Suffolk.

As Chief Executive, you will bring significant experience and a proven track record of strategic leadership and delivery in large complex organisations. Just as importantly you will have the creativity and determination to get things done. You will be able to work in partnership, to inspire and be able to 'take people with you'.

A major role both in scale and challenge this appointment also presents the successful candidate with the reward of taking a major authority to a new phase in its existence and contributing to the wider transformation of the local government sector.
