WORKFORCE

Chief Planning and Regeneration Officer, Redbridge

Redbridge is at the heart of regeneration and change in East London – part of Thames Gateway, and a few minutes from Stratford. We want to make sure that the Borough benefits from investment opportunities to accelerate growth. For instance, we were recently awarded £2 million to revitalise our Barkingside area.

The Council was the first in London to adopt its Core Strategy and several other Local Development Documents, including the Ilford and Gants Hill Area Action Plans, providing strong policy guidance and a firm foundation for good living and working conditions.

Environmental and development issues are high on the political agenda in Redbridge. The Borough has extensive green open spaces, a diverse and growing population and is close to the City of London. Balancing growth and environmental protection is a key planning challenge.

Following a detailed review, the Council has established an integrated planning team, and a specialised inward investment unit to promote regeneration of our local centres. They joined our existing building control, enforcement and environment teams. You will be responsible for leading all these areas of work, including planning policy, development management, building control, environmental sustainability, and conservation and urban design.

You will be part of a Senior Management Team with fellow Chief Officers covering highways, street scene, property services and community safety. You will contribute to strategic corporate work. If you are a modern inspiring leader and want to be part of our future at Redbridge then we would like to hear from you.

Closing date: 19 October 2012. Technical Assessment: 12 & 13 November 2012. Interview date: w/c 26 November 2012.
