The new slim-line Audit Commission is returning to its roots, according to the watchdog's new boss.
Controller of audit, Marcine Waterman, claims the commission will become ‘the public regulator it was always intended to be' after it scaled down from more than 2,000 staff to around 70 people. ‘The commission will continue to appoint the auditors and oversee the contracts for public audit,' she said.
