Council chiefs have written to the head of the Government's exams watchdog to express ‘strong concerns about the GCSE English results this summer'.

Chairman of the Local Government Association's (LGA) children and young people board, Cllr David Simmonds, wrote to Ofqual boss Glenys Stacey to criticise the changing of grade boundaries between exams in January and June this year. In the letter, Cllr Simmonds said the LGA believes that by changing grade boundaries in English in-year, exam boards made the marking process unfair and inconsistent.
