A district council chief executive has landed the role at Somerset CC, while a former county chief will head up Wyre Forest DC, it has been announced. Sheila Wheeler, chief executive at Tunbridge Wells BC has been hired to take on the Somerset job, following the departure of former chief executive, Alan Jones, earlier this year. Her appointment is yet to be ratified by full council. And Wyre Forest DC has hired Ian Miller, former Denbighshire CC chief executive as its new boss. Shifts between county and district roles are rare, and usually involve district chiefs moving to the larger authorities. Mr Miller, aged 44, is currently programme director for Renaissance, South West, and leads a regional partnership of five museum services. He has more than 20 years' experience working in local government and the public sector and was, for seven years, chief executive of Denbighshire CC. Diane Tilley is expected to continue as interim chief executive at Wyre Forest until Mr Miller takes up his post in December to succeed former chief executive, Walter Delin, who retired in August. Mrs Tilley is currently director of planning, economy and performance at Worcestershire CC, ands divides her time between the two roles. l Susie Kemp is the latest and last addition to the new-look senior management team at Surrey CC. Mrs Kemp is currently head of organisational development and performance improvement at Hillingdon LBC. She began her career in local government in 1996 as a councillor for West Berkshire Council, after running her own recruitment business, and before standing down in 2006 to move to Hillingdon as corporate improvement manager. Her recruitment completes the six-strong senior management team built by new chief executive, David McNulty.
