Anti-poverty campaigner, Frank Field, has attacked official figures on local child poverty.
The MP for Birkenhead responded to the Revenue and Customs department's latest assessment of child poverty, published last week. Liverpool's city-region mirrored national trends, with a 3% reduction in the number of youngsters living in deprived households. Between August 2009 and August 2010, child poverty across Liverpool fell from 91,395 to 88,880.
