A survey by the childcare charity Daycare Trust has found that 62% councils have cut their budgets for childcare and play services, and almost 50% have reduced the levels of holiday childcare provision available for local parents.
The average weekly cost of holiday childcare is £98.40 in England, £90.17 in Scotland and £85.86 in Wales. The survey shows that costs in the North East have risen by 20% over the past year.
