A new report by the children's charity, Buttle UK, and the University of Bristol has highlighted the growing number of children being raised by a relative, instead of a parent.

The report, Spotlight on kinship care, revealed for the first time the number of children – 173,000 – being raised by family members, which was based on information from the 2001 census.
