The Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA) has announced the appointment of Rob Whiteman as its new chief executive.

The former chief executive of Barking & Dagenham LBC Rob Whiteman is currently working as director general, operational systems transformation at the Home Office, having joined as chief executive of the UK Border Agency in September 2011, where he oversaw the agency's annual £1.6bn budget and 24,000 staff.
