Greater Manchester has been handed the freedom to reinvest locally-raised tax revenues in infrastructure projects.

Greater Manchester has been handed the freedom to reinvest locally-raised tax revenues in infrastructure projects, after agreeing an ‘earn back' deal with ministers.

Under the latest major ‘city deal' agreed with the Government, Manchester will be allowed to keep up to £30m a year of any extra local tax revenues it generates, largely through a £1.2bn investment in transport and other infrastructure.
