Cheshire West and Chester Council has called for urgent clarification from the Government over sixth form education funding. The council claims 16 of its secondary schools with sixth forms face cuts totalling £620,000 for the current year from the Learning Skills Council, despite a Budget Day announcement of 54,000 extra places in sixth form education. Children's Services executive member, Cllr Arthur Harada, said: ‘The current shortfall poses a serious threat to the planning of sixth form education in Cheshire.'
