Liberal Democrat leader, Nick Clegg, has pledged to devolve more power from Whitehall to local level. Speaking to the Public Management and Policy Association, Mr Clegg said he wanted to devolve power ‘from the centre to communities'. ‘I want to see local solutions applied to local problems, and I want to see the genius of grass-roots innovation set free to drive up the standards of our public services,' he added.
